EDF Trading's role is extensive and includes managing the Group's power output, coal procurement and transportation, emissions trading and management of the EDF carbon fund, gas supply, storage and transportation, biomass procurement and hedging and risk management. It is able to perform this role because of its extensive knowledge of the physical and financial wholesale energy markets.
EDF Trading has its own portfolio of assets and these, combined with those of the EDF Group businesses, gives it the ability to source, supply, transport, store, blend and convert physical commodities across the wholesale energy markets.
These activities enable EDF to meet its supply commitments to its customers whilst controlling the risks. EDF Trading is active across the global wholesale markets for electricity, natural gas, environmental products and coal and freight.
EDF Trading is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the EDF Group. It has around 1,000 employees with its headquarters in London and offices in Europe, the United States and Asia. It also has its own A3 credit rating from Moody's.
